JWA's Bay Area Workshop

The Power of Our Stories: A Workshop for Jewish Educators
August 5-6, 2013
Jewish Community High School of the Bay
San Francisco, CA

The Jewish Women’s Archive (JWA) invites you to its first professional development workshop in the Bay Area, “The Power of Our Stories.” The two-day program will help you bring the rich legacy of Jewish social action to life for your students.

During the workshop, we will:

• INVESTIGATE the relationship between Jewish identity, leadership, and the fight for social justice;
• EXAMINE real-life stories of Jewish activists through photographs, letters, newspaper articles, and other primary sources;
• EXPLORE the wealth of educational resources on jwa.org, with emphasis on JWA's social justice curriculum; and
• LEARN new strategies for encouraging students to develop their Jewish identities as a springboard for activism.

The workshop is open to educators working in any formal or informal Jewish education setting. The content on our website is designed for use in grades eight and above, but we welcome educators who are interested in adapting the material for younger students.Please register online as soon as possible.
