Judaic Studies Teachers- Schechter School of Long Island

The Schechter School of Long Island seeks innovative, creative, and inspiring Jewish educators to serve as full-time and part-time Judaic studies teachers for our Upper School, consisting of grades 6-12.   The Schechter School of Long Island is a K-12 Jewish Day School that provides a dual curriculum of excellence in Judaic and secular education in a caring and supportive atmosphere.

Teachers should be familiar with teaching biblical and rabbinic texts with differentiated instruction, using a variety of learning modalities to engage students, utilizing technology in teaching Judaic subjects, serving as a reflective practitioner open to growth in their classroom skills and curriculum development, and recognizing their role as a mentor and Jewish role model for the spiritual lives of our students.   Candidates should possess a broad knowledge of biblical and rabbinics texts using both traditional and modern commentators, as well as knowledge of Jewish history and theology.   Schechter hopes that teachers will play a role in shaping Jewish life in the Upper School, serving as a leader of one our daily minyanim, and participating in experiential education opportunities in Jewish life through the year.
